According to Fall 2019 rates (available here), in-state undergraduate tuition is around $21,000/year (including tuition & fees, room & board, and books).
Most Teaching Fellows also meet the qualifications for a Life Scholarship, which is $5,000/year. The Teaching Fellows award is $5,700/year towards tuition. Lander Teaching Fellows who reside on-campus receive an additional $2,000/year through the Presidential Housing Grant which helps pay for housing. Adding the above numbers together, brings a total of $12,700 in scholarships/awards, which means that your yearly tuition could be around $8,300. This additional cost is usually covered through grants and other forms of financial aid!
Are there any other scholarship funds available?
Yes! Lander's Department of Teacher Education offers 38 individual scholarships that are awarded according to academic achievement and financial need. Many of our Teaching Fellows are recipients of these scholarships.
Another great scholarship opportunities are other departmental scholarships. For example, if you are a Secondary Math Education major, you could apply for departmental scholarships through the math department. Feel free to click here to check out some more information about these opportunities.
Other outside scholarships?
The South Carolina Teachers Loan is a terrific option for teachers who will teach in a critical subject area or critical geographic area. This loan is repaid through teaching in a public school (critical subject and/or area). So, much like Teaching Fellows, it's "paid" off through teaching.
Additionally, CERRA updates a helpful list of other scholarships and loans for prospective teachers.

Athletic scholarships?
Some people ask, "Can I be an athlete and a Teaching Fellow?" Yes, you can! We currently have several Fellows who are scholarship athletes on various team sports. Click here for more information about Lander University's Athletic Scholarships.
